Upward bound:
from Curtina to St Jean's col (continued)

Continue the trail until you reach a grassy shelf (Piana a u Monte). Just before the shelf, a rocky promontory serves as a vantage point for the valley of Pietracorbara and, weather permitting, even the Tuscan islands. At this point, you are halfway to your destination. Note the environment, largely composed of maquis and rocks, as well as beautiful plates of green shale, compact as puff pastry. Now the Cipolla lies to your northwest, and you have reached to col which is located below the trail. To get to the Cipolla - as the residents of Pietracorbara refer to the rock otherwise known as Pruberzulu - climb along the mountain crest towards the north for about 40 minutes until you reach the rock, which lies directly in front of you.

The Cipolla (1 236 meters in altitude) as seen from the trail to the crest of the mountain (southwest).
