Water of life walks

There is a veritable wealth of water in the valley: rivers and creeks, bridges, springs and fountains...The three walks described below have no other goal than to help you enjoy the village, its history and geography via "the water of life". Follow this trail if you want to discover the valley. Wide flat or rolling plains face the 1100 meters high mountain, vegetation is diverse, from river reeds to massive cork oaks, and most of all, there is a nice road view where you can see individual houses in the plain:  past and present collide between two Genoese bridges that start and end this easy walk (best in late afternoon).

Park your vehicle at the beach parking lot. Cross the secondary road, go past the small bridge and head towards the village. After 30 meters, on your left, take the road that becomes parallel to road 232. Walk along the horse riding club and keep on walking on the path that leads to road 232. Follow this road, 200 meters uphill. Just after the house in ruins, turn left and take the soil road with wire fencings on its sides. Follow the path that runs alongside the river (a few meters). Go past the Quercetu Genoese bridge and turn right. The path goes deep into the valley, through pastures, and then becomes parallel to the road, which you can see on your right. The landscape changes after the canave (farm houses in ruins). Woods composed of cork oaks darkened by numerous fires, chestnut and olive trees fill the landscape. A section of the strada vechja leads you to the river. Walk 500 meters (blue flag trail) until the Ponticellu Genoese bridge and its beautiful fountain with a big vault on top of it. Go back to the beach following the same path (markers either way) or on the road. You can reach it if you take the track that goes from the bridge to the houses.
