The
Lapedina Fountain.
Funtana,
or fountain in Corsican, is the name of the Lapedina
fountain. A large arch protects the water
catchment, the washtub and a small basin. It is the only fountain of this kind that still exists in Pietracorbara. It seems that it was built in the last quarter of the nineteenth century, but the vaumt is more recent. It is the fourth fountain that Petra Viva and the town restored in March 2007. The fountain used to be dried-up, now there is water again. Note the inscriptions
still visible on the walls: the hammer and scythe, symbol
of communism, accompanied by a radiant sun. The residents
of Lapedina, the Lapedinacci, have never hesitated
to express their political leanings, even on the walls of
the local wash-house!

The
di u Lucu Spring. This
spring literally springs from the earth with no warning.
It fills a small basin lined with dead leaves, and then
cascades down the hill. A forest of green oaks grows here.
The trees, which grow amongst the rocks, seem to descend
the mountain. The di u Lucu spring was used by the
residents of Lapedina, the Lapedinacci,
to wash the pig guts before they were transformed into the
local preserved meats. Lupin beans were also soaked here
for 40 days until they were edible.
